It's say it's good to see you, but that would be a lie #Assange
*I'd* say - forgive me, it is early
Today's a case management hearing, so it's all about determining the timetable going forward. The court's been keen to keep to the February timetable so far. #Assange
Large contingent from the legal team here today plus media. I guess we're in for a hearing of one - two hours. #Assange
Press about to go in. It's a real squeeze today. #Assange
Lots of difficulty getting official observers in today, sadly. #Assange
Turning this phone off now. I can't livetweet from the public gallery but those with press passes (standing room only for them!) may be able to. #Assange
Life piles in sometimes, but here are my notes. Julian #Assange was considered and attentive at this hearing, following things carefully. He had papers in his hand and was flicking through them from time to time. Wearing glasses, a shirt and mauve jumper.
We continue to have a real issue with court access. Two eminent medical observers from @Doctors4Assange could not get in to the court. There wasn't enough room for press either - many had to stand (so did I). #Assange
The defence has submitted a large amount of evidence, and now has until 10 January to submit the remainder. #Assange
The timeline is very constrained but the main hearing will still start on 24 February at Belmarsh Magistrates' Court. We're in for a 3-4 week hearing, possibly with a gap in the middle and the second half starting in April (though the judge was not keen on that idea). #Assange
There are separate "bundles" of evidence served on the Espionage Act, @xychelsea's court martial, the UC Global surveillance case, medical evidence (including testimony from "three eminent psychiatrists"), prejudicial statements from US officials... #Assange
.... trial issues/prison conditions and a final bundle on the history of the case. The defence has named 21 witnesses, of whom it may call as many as 16 to give evidence in person or by videolink in February. #Assange
We have a routine remand hearing coming up on 14 January 2020 and another case management hearing on 23 January. At that point, DJ Baraitser will look at how the trial time is going to be divided up for different arguments and witnesses. #Assange will participate by videolink.
