There's a *real chance* the Middle East ends up in a regional war that will kill tens of thousands or more for the exclusive reason that Trump was walking around Mar-a-Lago at the end of December bragging about how hard he'd hit Iran and basking in the glow of reflected bloodlust
I mean Jesus imagine if the Second Gulf War had happened exclusively because George W. Bush basically "polled the room" in a Florida country club

To be clear, I'm speaking only of one of the several factors involved in the timing of this, another being impeachment; I actually don't think this is the moment MBS and MBZ and Netanyahu would have chosen for Trump to strike Iran, though they sure wanted him to do it eventually.
Bibi Netanyahu is under indictment; MBS's name is mud in the U.S. because of his recent exculpation of men responsible for killing a Washington Post journalist; so, oddly, MBS and Netanyahu may be able to talk Trump off the ledge *now* because they do not want to go to war *now*.
But that's a pretty slim reed of hope, I admit.
