In non-impeachment news...lawyers for Omar Ameen, the refugee who DOJ says carried out ISIS hit in Iraq despite all evidence pointing to him being in Turkey at time, say DOJ has been sitting on letter from Turkey for nearly 1 YEAR saying it will provide Ameen's phone records 1/2

Prosecutors just filed a response saying this was a “clerical error”....but still ask judge to certify Ameen’s extradition before the phone records, which could literally save Ameen’s life, are even provided to the defense. More from @bentaub91 newyorker.com/news/news-desk…

National security adviser Robert O’Brien is speaking now at the Atlantic Council. Hints at more cuts to NSC coming this week.
“The streamlining and rightsizing is concluding,” he says, notes that number of policy staff will be cut down further “by the end of this week.”
Will be down to 115-120 by end of this week, he says.
O’Brien: “It’s a privilege to work at the White House. It’s not a right...the Vindmans had served there for over a year. Their services were no longer needed.”

NEW: Andrey Kukushkin, indicted for allegedly funneling Russian money to officials, was set to partner w/the V.A. on cannabis research just before he was charged. The chair for several of DoD's med research programs was in loop, raising natsec concerns.

Kukushkin, a Ukraine-born cannabis investor whose marijuana projects and political donations were allegedly illegally funded by a Russian national, was set to partner w/the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center in September on a 5-year R&D agreement, which we obtained 1/
The plan was study medical cannabis therapies for cancer. But national security experts say the arrangement raises red flags, given the level of access Kukushkin and his alleged Russian funder would have had to government scientists, including one who does work with the Pentagon.

The #SDF's proclamation of victory today against #ISIS's territorial Caliphate is a momentous occasion worthy of genuine celebration.

What was once a territory the size of the UK is now zero. That's no small accomplishment.

The #SDF lost 11,000 killed & 21,000 wounded.
#pt: After #ISIS's capture of #Mosul, its march south in #Iraq, expansion in #Syria & genocidal threats against #Yazidis in #Sinjar & #Kurds in #Kobani, the US mobilized the largest military coalition in modern history; 79 members.
