5/I first met EW when I was a 23 year-old econ staffer at a startup think tank & she was a prof researching debt. Over the next 15 yrs, we were in big David & Goliath fights: bankruptcy reform, credit card reform, Dodd-Frank. Politics sought her out, not the other way around
6/I have worked with Sanders over the years too -- on usury laws and credit reporting -- and am a huge fan. I think they will be a powerful team (inside/outside or P/VP) but EW has what it takes to lead.
7/We’ve had 230 yrs of men running America. In 2016, 3M more ppl voted for a woman, and that was before #WomensMarch, #MeToo, Roe threats, the 2018 historic gender gap. Our energy is turbocharging Dem politics; it’s time for us to LEAD.
8/I also love that EW gets how racism leads to bad policy - from low wages & a porous safety net to predatory finance & toxic pollution. Her plans & speeches see race, gender & class as interconnected.
