The reactions to this thread are hilarious and indicative of why those supporting impeachment have failed to convince others that it is the proper course.
Alexander wrote a long thread reasonably explaining his position. The media and resistance reaction is to declare that a minor process vote which no one will remember in a month will be his legacy and to insist he somehow is a traitor and a coward.
Alexander is mostly correct. The facts are mostly proven and there is no reason to think they will change w further investigation. If you think that Trump leveraging aid to force Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden is worthy of removal from office, you should vote to do so.
If you don’t think it’s worthy of removal, you should vote no. Americans are split, which is why members of Congress are deferring to their partisan positions. Point of the requests is political to try to sway people for the election (not the trial).
That’s fair game in politics, but Alexander isn’t required to help with their political goals. If Democrats wanted to get Trump removed via impeachment, they needed to convince most of the public that it was necessary during House inquiry. Instead public is split ~50/50.
Notice the reactions aren’t actually responding to the substance of what he wrote. Throwing a tantrum and calling him names isn’t going to convince anyone who wasn’t already inclined to agree with you. It will get some retweets, but that’s about it.
