1) Happy to see excitement back in the Ethereum community with $ETH ripping!

BUT, this is also precisely why $ETH is not an interesting investment for anyone outside of the die-hard ETH community. When $ETH rallies, so does everything else.
2) While Ethereum is far and away the leader in smart contract platforms, it still underperforms (or performs in line with) almost every other smart contract platform. Even those with little chance of success.
3) Further, if you look at just ERC-20s (or other tokens highly dependent on Ethereum's success), $ETH's 65% YTD gain is at best middle of the pack.
4) Relative value matters.

Institutional investors and asset managers simply don't need $ETH in their portfolios. It's not a necessary investment, and the expected return profile is easily replaceable with other assets.

5) As investors & evangelists of digital assets, we are all incentivized to root for Ethereum. I hope all developers & users of Ethereum-based products prosper.

But objectively, there is good reason why few investors care about $ETH as a stand-alone investment (at least today).
6) That said, for traders solely looking at $ETH / $BTC relationships, I respect @Rewkang & others who think ETH may outperform. Sure, it could.

My point is that with an expanded playbook, $ETH just isn't super interesting.

Look forward to rebuttals!
