Thread: I don't know why everyone is mad at Donny Deutsch. I've been trying to tell yall how any mediocre white can become an "expert" on anything they want.

Donny Deutsch is essentially Donald Trump with a nicer haircut.

First of all, Like Donald Trump, Deutsch was born in Queens to a rich father.

Both went to Wharton.
Both began their careers working for their daddy's company.
Both parlayed careers working for a company that their fathers built into a celebrity facade based on their "success"

So what qualifications does he have to speak on politics?

Well, let's look at Deutsch's resume.
His first time on TV was for winning the "Celebrity Match Game"
He worked at his father's ad firm for 6 years before becoming chairman. 11 years later, he sold it for $265 million

That's it. That's his resume.

Here's the guestlist for Friday's episode of Morning Joe

There's only one person on that list who is out of place.

Aside from the time he spent as a judge on The Apprentice (sound familiar?) every idea he's ever had, every show he's ever created, everything he's ever done has failed. He's never worked on a campaign or covered politics

Still, he keeps failing up. Every black person has worked with someone like this.

Here's a partial list of black people who appeared on Morning Joe this week:

Eugene Robinson: Pulitzer Prize Winner

Al Sharpton: Literally 50 years in politics and activism
Yamiche Alcindor: White House Correspondent, reporter, Debate moderator
Shawna Thomas: Master’s degree in broadcast journalism from USC; covered politics for Vice, NBC and is now developing digital content.

And some guy.

EVERY DAY, I read the work, watch and speak to black reporters, pundits and political analysts from all around the country who make me feel stupid in comparison.

They have some of the most informed, nuanced takes on the current Democratic race.

And whenever they get the chance to appear on a major outlet, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is invariably asked to debate a haircut in a jacket who is less informed, less experienced and less qualified to speak on the issues.

And when (or if) these smart AF black people get to talk

They are ONLY asked about the "black vote." They travel the country, research the data and conduct interviews while someone like Donny, without a scintilla of evidence, data or even expertise just tells you what he thinks.

I'm not saying Donny Deutsch shouldn't be on TV.

But, to the gatekeepers of mainstream media, the mediocre, imbecilic opinion of any old white man, carries as much weight and value as every goddamn thing the smartest black person you ever met, has ever learned in their entire life.

And that, dear friend, is white privilege.
