I mostly quit Twitter in late November 2019 because @DGlaucomflecken said he was quitting.

I returned to a world of people and found them waiting for me.
I found my own kid suffering the family disease of depression and needing some help lining up the treatment with therapy and meds that helped me.
I found a friend with a sick kid who is going to need a lot of help. I know have blank spaces in my day—empty pieces of time—to show up and be present.
I found myself too. Needing to heal up. The dirt on the floor of this coliseum is stained with blood. Most people on here are kind and supportive. The few that aren’t can really hurt you. I can’t say it’s a healthy environment to live and grow.
I confess I’ve lived the last 10 years with the mistaken belief that a peaceful mind can tolerate distraction. This social media is an enormous distraction. I was wrong.
In retrospect, the truth is:

Distraction upsets the peaceful mind.
In the last two months i have become a being of 5 senses passing through a three dimensional world. At first it seemed colorless and empty like the walls of a scientist’s rat maze.
Now it’s brimming with color and detail. And populated with breathing human beings thirsty for contact. Interaction. Warmth. Connection.
In between there is emptiness. Not cold and lonely but warm and peaceful. Quiet and nurturing.
Watch for people walking outside, alone with no phone or earbuds. See them looking around? Taking in the view of the world that changes with every step? I’m doing what they are doing.

Being here, now.
There are blanks in my schedule that I don’t fill. I have time when I’m not doing anything and I don’t fill it with anything. My artesian spring af creativity is flowing again.
I’ve been telling my friends, “I used to love to tell people what to think but I got over it.” They seem to appreciate having me back, undistracted.
