So this will be the start of a <THREAD> about recording the score & music to #BirdsOfPrey..

Here’s our first musical superstar - Abe Rounds - playing a J Bonham style kit ⁦in the room @sunsetsound⁩ where so many amazing records by #LedZeppelin and #TheDoors were made..👇
☝️..next up.. here’s us trying to create the #BirdsOfPrey battle cries with Anna Schubert and Suzanne Walters who don’t normally sing like this..

Both these ladies skills - and ability to take terrible ideas from me and make them great - were MIND BLOWING.

..☝️Then a key part of this score was the amazing sessions we did with Adam Tressler + Andrew Synowiec on guitars, Tim Lefebvre on bass and Abe Rounds on drums. This is a pretty straight take of the #HarleyQuinn theme but we would then jam around certain elements for surprises..
..more mad vocals added.. this time from @SarahPinzonVox who, like everyone else, was very sporting at taking on my stupid direction and giving it everything...

..I’m a big sucker for dropping percussion all over the shop as well. Here’s Wade Culbreath on the Timpani for one of the #BirdsOfPrey tracks..
..also a lot of Tubular Bells all over this score.. played here by Edward Atkatz at Henson Recording Studios...
..then there was often a bunch of orchestral elements as well. Here we are on the Fox Newman Stage making some dark mad detuned strings stuff that was used for the #RomanSionis scenes in #BirdsOfPrey...
..another super important ingredient to the #BirdsOfPrey score is this. I was watching the brill Jeremy Deller doc on 88 rave culture EVERYBODY IN THE PLACE and it reminded me how much I love the sound of a 303. So I got one of the kings of acid house BRIAN DOUGANS to help out..
Always loved the sound of the Roland 303 and it just seemed 100% in keeping with #harleyquinn and the mad colourful world of the film.. wanted to get some rave sirens in there too but didn’t work out.

Did get some disco agogo bells in though.. 😉 They felt very Harley...
..and in keeping with #ValentinesDay here’s an amazing array of singers giving the #BirdsOfPrey soundtrack all their ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️..

..now for something super insane. Wait to the very end to see Soprano Anna Schubert EFFORTLESSLY hit a high E on Harley’s Emancipation theme from #BirdsOfPrey.. Everyone in the studio’s jaws were on the floor.

She makes it look so easy. IT’S NOT!!

1. So a few more scratching vids - Here's @DJBlakey doing some epic 'laser cuts' with some electronics I'd made - we used these over the very opening logos and glitches at the start of the film...

3. We then go into the intro.. For this we re-scratched a bunch of orchestral horn blasts we had recorded, looped the bars round and did a zillion takes and then edited the best bits together...

1. OK..<EPIC THREAD> on making the Prowler 'Elephant' noise for #Spiderverse and other ELECTRONIC NOISES. I did some sessions with a good friend of mine Brian Dougans who has an amazing collection of electronic gear. You might recognise this sound...
2. We used a huge array of electronics both old - like the EMS Synthi (well known to diehard #DrWho fans) - and new - like the FSOL Digitana SX-1 (which Brian helped design!), through pedals and things to jam out a whole bunch of crazy noises...
3. The unstable and analogue nature of the gear would create a really unique and menacing sound that cut through like nothing else. The most recognisable of these is probably the Prowler sound which you can hear on this track here: open.spotify.com/track/0p4G0l12…

3/ Non-Catholic students & families can & are turned away from Catholic schools, even if it is their closest school.
Non-Catholic parents can't vote in board elections.
Non-Catholics can't run as trustees (although Catholics can in Public schools).

As we approach a possible special session on pensions and quasi-governmental organizations, let's reflect on how we got here--and specifically the assumption changes the KRS board made in 2017. <thread>
Assumptions are long term & should apply to a ~30 year period. Given that, the pre-2017 assumptions were not way out of line. For KERS NH, the investment assumption was 6.75% (just lowered from 7.5%), nearly the lowest in US at the time & below what plan has earned historically.
The payroll growth assumption of 4% reflected what had happened historically. It’s true that we didn’t hit 4% in the years after the Great Recession—a recession that caused major budget cuts that reduced employment.

She began by describing many known NXIVM locations in Clifton Park. Penza says 127 Grenadier Court was Allison Mack's condo where the branding of women took place with their "arms above head like a sacrifice."
2 Flintlock where she says Raniere took sexually explicit photos including those of a 15 year old. 120 Victory Way, where she says DOS witness Nicole was tied to a table, blindfolded, not knowing she was being videotaped.

First of all, the good news: I got tenure!

I want to celebrate my job security with a #thread about the history of racism & anti-semitism at the U. of Minnesota. I felt it wasn't wise to share my thoughts until my tenure was approved by the Board of Regents. Let me explain. /1
2/ Like many Universities, the U. of Minnesota is starting to reckon with its own discriminatory history. This history was displayed in a brilliant exhibit two years ago, called “A Campus Divided.”

3/ After the exhibit, UMN President Kaler called a Task Force to investigate the University’s discriminatory history, and he asked several faculty, including many of my colleagues in the History department, to be part of this committee.
