Indeed, America is *considerably to the left of Europe* on issues like LGBTQ rights and immigration. And many of Europe's left-parties are split on racial tolerance in a way ours aren't!
For instance, "socialist" Scandinavia definitely has bigger individual taxes and social programs, but they have lower corporate taxes and laissez-faire regulation.
Others are fantastic at safeguarding the right to unionize, while others suck.
The list goes on. Europe isn't a monolith. Just like U.S. states aren't a monolith.
And even then, the specifics of how those issues are handled vary wildly from country to country. There's no one "European-style" health care or gun control plan.
