It's not even as simple as "Europe is to the left of us on economics and to the right of us on social issues."
For instance, "socialist" Scandinavia definitely has bigger individual taxes and social programs, but they have lower corporate taxes and laissez-faire regulation.

The only issues on which Europe pretty consistently beats America from the left are health care and gun regulations.
And even then, the specifics of how those issues are handled vary wildly from country to country. There's no one "European-style" health care or gun control plan.
