Here is the 2% CFR’s source paper from China CDC researchers - calculated from 1023 deaths out of 44672 cases. 81% cases are mild,’ though likely many mild were underdiagnosed too. CFR isn’t final cuz not all cases have resolved. github.com/cmrivers/ncov/… nytimes.com/2020/02/18/wor…
2) it’s also important to point out that amount previously healthy people with no comorbidities, the mortality was much lower at 0.9%. And it was 0.4% or less for those under age 49. And again this is all with underdiagnosis of milder cases + incomplete majority case resolution.
3) two other noteworthy findings: a) it seems there is maybe a gender difference in mortality, men dying more but it’s not adjusted for other demographics. B) earlier cases have higher mortality - expected with the known lag in case resolution. Hmmm 🤔
