(Thread) Today the CDC immunization chief said that she has told her family to be prepare for a "significant disruption of our lives" in case the Coronavirus hits. nypost.com/2020/02/25/cdc…
I am not a prepper and and I'm generally anti-hysteria, but I don't think it's a bad thing to stock up on some things you will eventually use anyway, in case the Coronavirus hits your city and you have to spend a week or two indoors.
I have a short list below of things I suggest, but obviously get whatever your family would need if deliveries are interrupted (much of what we buy is made in China) and you had to remain indoors for a week or two whether or not you are sick.
This isn't to survive the apocalypse, this is to survive a short stay without Amazon or Fresh Direct or any of other modern conveniences.

Because I am a bargain shopper, these are links to the cheapest version of each item (in my favorite brands).
First off, there's no real reason to get a mask right now but if you're going to get a mask, get an N95, the rest don't do much amzn.to/2SZde2K Check your local hardware store for the 3M ones.
Some items that I have purchased *just in case* include:
Advil: amzn.to/2TfR0IH
Children's Advil: amzn.to/2SY4SbL
Pedialyte: amzn.to/2vfbNUR
Hand sanitizer (on every kid's backpack and extras at home): amzn.to/2usJJgf
(Cont)
Lysol wipes: amzn.to/2SYLs6p
Bleach: amzn.to/3a14Vt1
Tissues: amzn.to/2w14ujN
Toilet paper: amzn.to/2SXIj6P
Paper towels: amzn.to/32oiHmU
Pasta- amzn.to/37XdP9p
Peanut butter: amzn.to/2VnJxKu
Granola bars: amzn.to/3a5xRAa
Protein bars: amzn.to/3afUpyj
This, obviously, isn't an exhaustive list. If you have a baby, have extra diapers. If you have allergies, have extra packs of allergy medicine. If you take prescription drugs, many of which are made in China, see if you can get extras in case the supply line takes a hit.
I didn't get into food because while, say, mac-n-cheese boxes are on a lot of lists, my family doesn't really eat them. We are also fully stocked in seltzer instead of water. So don't go buying canned foods that your family doesn't eat in a misguided attempt to prepare.
Think more hurricane preparation than Mad Max prep. Get what you'll use when everything turns out ok.

Don't panic. But also don't put off planning because you don't want to panic.
