Another interesting point from briefing is how Chinese side appears to be playing down @WHO remarks re: @GileadSciences’ drug #remdesivir. WHO official said “ONLY ONE drug right now” might be effective. NHC translated him as: “we think remdesivir might have the expected effect.”

NHC omits “only one” & keeps @WHO comment vague. Speculation here as to why: 1) #China might not want public to think only effective drug is from US 2) China might be wary of undermining other ongoing drug protocols 3) China might fear suspected cases will skip going to hospitals
