I used to think the big potential problem from Coronavirus was the supply chain

Now I think it's hospital beds

Within a week of the virus hitting Northern Italy, major hospitals are at capacity
As this tweet points out - America has a very low ratio of hospital beds to the overall population

If this thing gets out of control, we could very quickly be in a situation where people who need intensive care cannot get it due to lack of capacity

If this analysis is right - our system is great at providing world-class care to people under normal circumstances, but could break in a pandemic

Which means we need 1) more hospital beds, ASAP and 2) to aggressively limit cases
