1/ The absolute, No. 1 priority for this election is to defeat #Trump - because if he's re-elected, not only will Progressive policy initiatives be moot, we will also see further regression in our rights and our democratic foundations. So, who is best positioned to beat Trump? +

2/ #Biden was not my 1st choice for president. However, I believe he is the one best positioned to defeat #Trump; here's why:

a) He is the only candidate who has consistently polled well against Trump in swing/purple states, which will be required to reach 270 electoral votes +

b) #Biden has strong support from the Black community - an absolute must for any Democrat to win an election

c) Biden will have a strong, positive effect on down-ballot races, both with voters and donors

4/ #Sanders, as always, has run a good campaign. But the majority of Americans are more focused on ridding the White House of the incompetent criminal and his cabal than revolutionary policy change... + #Biden

5/ ...not because they don't want that kind of change, but because they know that the foundations that make such change possible are teetering on the brink of being eradicated.

And electing #Biden doesn't mean that our work is done. +

6/ There is enormous damage that must be repaired - to our foreign relations and alliances, to our global leadership, esp. on things like climate change, to repairing our democratic institutions and re-establishing ethics and the rule of law... +

7/ ...and addressing some long-neglected needs in our country - infrastructure, health care, wealth disparity, etc. This will be a long road that will require patience and the ability to convince those who currently vote against their own interests. +

8/ But if we work hard, consistently, and together, we will finally move beyond the enmity and petty political fights that others have facilitated to support their own agendas. We will return to the democracy of our Founding Fathers, and work to make it progressively better. //
