Because there's nothing else happening that we should all be focusing on, today we have a Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules to digest, yay! (Thread 1/) gov.uk/government/pub…
Thankfully there isn't loads. We've got changes in 4 key areas:
1. Adjustments to EU Settlement Scheme
2. Freeze on settlement salary thresholds for sponsored workers
3. Usual corrections to errors in the rules🙄
4. Update to Youth Mobility Scheme partner countries & places (2/)
The EUSS changes aren't earth shattering for most. We see a slight (in most cases, very slight) widening of the pool of people covered by the scheme, including a shift in how UKVI looks at family members of British citizens where the family has been living abroad in the EU. (3/)
Basically, if you've tried to fit into the EUSS scheme before and struggled, it might be worth looking again to see whether any of the changes being made could benefit you. Give us a call if you have questions about the EUSS: 0161 234 6800 (4/)
The most significat change is being made to sponsored workers (Tier 2). When applying for settlement in the UK - called ILR - they must be paid a minimum salary. The minimum required currently increases each April. (5/)
The new Statement of Changes freezes the minimum salary at the current level of £35,800: "The salary threshold for indefinite leave to remain under Tier 2 (General) is being amended to enable the existing level to be maintained for applications made on or after
6 April..." (6/)
Also, Archaeologists are being added to the Shortage Occupation List at last, which won't affect most people reading this, but does allow me to use an Indiana Jones gif (7/)
The error corrections to the rules are mainly to do with grammar and removal of out of date references; not much to write home about there. (8/)
Youth Mobility allocations are dropping by 1000 places each for Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Other than this, the scheme appears to be unaffected.

And that seems to be about everything of note. (9/)
