One strategy that countries adopted for the Corona Virus is to contain it. Stop it from spreading. China, with draconian measures, has achieved this. Once a virus is contained, it can no longer spread. It simply dies out.

South Korea, focussed on identifying all infected individuals, and who they had been in contact with, and isolated them. South Korea implemented a massive testing exercise. Testing *everyone*.

The other strategy, that the UK has adopted, is to let it spread, so that people develop immunity to it (or die).

The UK’s strategy is based on the assumption that the virus will be around for good, therefor ‘take it on the chin’ and ‘you will lose your loved ones’. Alongside this adopting bollocks like the ‘herd immunity’ strategy.

The worst part of the UK’s strategy is that it is being implemented knowing that the NHS, after years of underfunding, does not have enough ICUs or Ventilators.
These are required to help people survive.
The NHS is already close to capacity with ICU utilisation.

Germany has five times as many ICU units with ventilators. Enough to treat those sick with Corona Virus.
In Germany, the death rate is 0.2%, as opposed to 2-3% of those infected experienced by other countries.

Beyond the deaths that this strategy will cause, there is another issue.
Countries, like China, South Korea, who have now contained the virus, will not allow people from the UK to visit them.

This will become true of other countries who have adopted the containment approach. The UK is making itself a pariah state. A #Covid1 leper colony. The UK is the only country that has decided on a policy to let the virus spread.

The UK has to change and to adopt the same strategy as the rest of the world. The rest of the world will block their borders to visitors from the UK, until it does so.

For schools – who knows. If you close a school that is not infected – then that makes sense. But does it make sense to close a school if all children are already infected? Children mostly do not show symptoms. Will the UK do the tests to find out?
