Entrepreneur asks me if it would be useful for him to quickly build an app for healthcare workers to record how many test kits available locally, how many people ask for test, how many tests done, results, ICU beds, other critical resources. Would it help? #coronavirus
Let me know if any version of this is already being done during the crisis, and any input on what data and features are most useful now. App could be built in a few days.
Clarification: This would be a website, not a mobile app, which would be harder to build. Would be blockchain based and distributed.

In an emergency situation, can healthy volunteers agree to intentional infection in clinical setting to test vaccines and perhaps treatments? Speeds the efficacy answer to two weeks. Safety testing miiiiight be streamlinable but I don’t know how. #coronavirus
In normal times this would be deeply unethical. Normal is last month. We would have plenty of volunteers today.
It is unlikely I’m the first person to think of this, obviously. But it might mean Trump knows more than he can tell us about the potential speed of a vaccine.

What do China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy have in common besides the worst #Coronavirus outbreaks? They also have the worst air quality. Does pollution carry an airborne virus farther?
If humid air helps neutralize an airborn virus, could polluted air do the opposite?
It stands to reason that the residents of polluted cities have weaker lungs. But is that the only possible mechanism?

In 2017, Bloomberg (the publication) did a hit piece on me that featured this photo. Looks like I have a MAGA hat on the wall, doesn't it? I have never owned one. (Too dangerous.)
This non-MAGA hat was sent to me, unsolicited, by a fan. I forget what the hat said, but it was a takeoff on MAGA, not related to politics. I think it replaced "America" with some profession. I stuck it on an existing hook by the door as an emergency backup hat for my backyard.
In simpler times we used to say, "Photos don't lie." Today, it would be closer to the truth to say photos ALWAYS lie. A photo in this context is the combined opinion of the photographer and the editor, at best. At worst, as in this example, it is a lie to the audience.

May be removed from transmission-based precautions on a case by case basis (neg pressure rooms, PPE etc).

Decision to discharge to home is a clinical one.

As hospital beds reach short supply, we will need to improve our turn around times on how long patients w/ #COVID19 need to actually be inpatient.

Some will get better and still require an isolation period at home after to minimize transmission.

As an ER doc, I suspect that in coming days, almost every metropolitan area will confirm a "first case."

We suspect that there are many, many sub-clinical cases already out there in the U.S. We haven't identified them, because we have not been testing, & most aren't super-sick.
There's a lot of debate right now about testing. @thehowie has great commentary

Ideally, we would test EVERYONE, so we can get "true prevalence" (e.g., know who's actually sick) and so we can quarantine to prevent spread.

B U T you actually can learn about these things and fight to change them for everyone and also this applies to everything most especially food/housing/#healthcare.
Literally no one in the Democratic primary is talking about poor people, not even Bernie or Booker who talks about Newark a lot, and poverty is crushing millions of American women. I wrote about it here in-depth and you should read it.
