The rotten apple doesn’t fall far in the Burr family tree.

If this is true, @SenatorBurr would be even more disgraced than his perfidious distant cousin Aaron.

@propublica is as reliable as it gets.

@SenatorBurr’s conduct may have violated the STOCK Act of 2013:

Long title:
“An Act To prohibit Members of Congress and employees of Congress from using nonpublic information derived from their official positions for personal benefit & for other purposes”
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/STOCK_Act
3/
The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act prohibits members & employees of Congress from using "any nonpublic information derived from the individual's position ... or gained from performance of the individual's duties, for personal benefit".

Subpoena Burr now.
I’m having a hard time putting this alleged corruption into historical context.
I want to avoid hyperbole. We need more evidence.
But if true, it is hard for me to think of any financial scandal that involved such bad faith, so many lies...
and _so many deaths_.
There are 2 separate scandals. One more/political. The other legal.
1. Did Burr send one dishonest and damaging positive public message when he knew it wasn’t but just saved his own skin?
2. Legal problem: was it based on non-public information? Less clear.

H/t @EricColumbus
Burr's rapid response is so narrow and non-responsive, it seems less like an explanation and more like a "everyone does it, I just got caught" confessional:
