1/1 There are 4-5 extremely promising candidate drugs in development for COVID-19/SARS Cov-2. We need to BUY TIME to allow these drugs to be tested in (hopefully) randomized studies.
2/2 "Buying time" means keeping hospital workers safe, limiting patient volumes, and keeping sick patients alive.
3/3 That, in turn, means giving proper personal protective equipment to the hospital workers, including masks and gowns.
4/4 It also means accelerating these drugs through the FDA -- again, keeping regulators safe and working so that they can process the applications
5/5 And it means supplying ventilators and other equipment to keep the patients alive.
6/6: Which means
(a) isolate the vulnerable
(b) practice social distancing and isolation/quarantine
(c) use viral testing AND serology to determine those who are immune --> they may return to work
(d) STAY AT HOME IF YOU CAN
(e) If you are uninfected, wear a mask in public
