Although #COVID19 is horrific and changed everything for all of us including #acc20 #WCCardio I just wanted to take a second to reflect on a few things.
1. Social distancing has not been isolating in this day & age. We have been able to gather strength from being in touch #SoMe
2. We have been able to be resourceful & use technology to stay connected with colleagues worldwide, our families and friends. Never before had I felt connected to the world despite being slightly alone physically
3. Did we ever have happy hours together before this, virtually?
4. Did you ever call your parents or siblings so often that you ran out of things to catch up on? Sometimes we have sat in silence and that has been nice. Or watch movies from afar but together. ♥️
5. Working together via @zoom_us has been better than just quick call, text, email
6. Waking up, I have been more grateful for the sunrise or the rain. Whatever the day is offering, I am grateful for it
7. The silence outside has been strangely comforting. #WeAreAllInThisTogether
8. My husband had been home. We have had more time together ♥️
9. Work has been scarier. Walking into the hospital is a point of fear for all of us. Lack of #PPE, contrary policies from one place to another, the politics of #Covid19 shouldn’t exist. We just need to come together as one for this. Let the experts guide it. No politics.
10. Lastly, the kindness of strangers in random moments. The gentle hellos from across the sidewalk. The looks we give to strangers and get back. Apologetic. Wishing we could help resolve this. Wishing it was different. The kind man calling out “thank you, doc” across the parking
lot. My cardiology fellows being kind to each other and helping each other. The calls and texts and messages across the world that remind me we are not alone. The moments of work that get us away from #CoVID19 even if briefly. #ACC20 letting us recall our profession & ♥️community
Our time on this earth is not guaranteed. But I am reminded to not take a moment for granted. I just want my #twitterfamily #cardiotwitter to know how grateful I am for your laughter, kindness, dog pics, outreach and just your presence. #BeKindToEachOther #bekindtoyou
