BREAKING: Since Feb. 8, I’ve been calculating total global COVID-19 cases vs total fatalities.

Today, it hit 5%.

PERSPECTIVE: Keep in mind, that’s without mass testing. Therefore, the fatality numbers could be far lower.
LINGERING DOUBTS: Questions remain on the true fatality numbers.

Their are multiple pandemics occurring: there’s the global pandemic, which is separating real leaders from dangerous charlatans.

There’s also a pandemic of loneliness. When I hit an emotional bottom a few yrs ago, I was told to call 3 people a day and just ask how they’re doing.
So I made those calls.

You can draw a direct line to the job I have now, the partner I have now and the things in my life I cherish based on the people who answered the phone when I called.

I felt so small at the time and just wanted to hide but instead I made human connections
The point I’m trying to make is that reaching out can seem so daunting, particularly when you’re feeling low. But give it a try. You never know where that call might lead, and who you might be saving on the other end.

Media is parroting GOP deception that impeachment kept Trump from pandemic preparation.

Let’s be clear: Trump was impeached because he betrayed our country; GOP betrayed us by supporting him; GOP cut core govt agencies; GOP chose money over decency.

GOP obstruction cost lives.
Reelection was more important to Trump than saving lives.
Not sure why the media is giving air to the chronic deception.

According to this dashboard by @JHUSystems, there have been 114 U.S. deaths. If we take the case-fatality rate of 0.9 from South Korea's screening efforts, then this would seem to suggest that there are 12K to 13K U.S. cases. (114 divided by 0.9) But... gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashbo… /2
...as the dashboard shows, *confirmed* cases in the U.S. are hovering only around 6,500. This gap shows why we need rapid testing to find the *other* 6,500 cases as soon as possible. /3

Zeer informatief, maar er blijven een aantal kanttekeningen onbesproken.
Waarschijnlijk heb je onderstaand plaatje wel langs zien komen. Het laat de verspreiding van het virus zien zonder maatregelen (eerste curve) en met maatregelen (tweede curve). De streep in het midden van de Y as is de capaciteit van de gezondheidszorg.
