2/ First off, a contrary pool also came out yesterday showing Mueller has a 58% approval rating google.com/amp/s/www.wash…
3/ But, since when have Prosecutors needed approval ratings? By the nature of their work, some people will be unhappy with them.
4/ The answer is since Trump launched an all out war on the rule of law. He has attacked his own Attorney General almost as much as Mueller.
5/ His goal seems to be convincing his base that any charges against his administration would be politically motivated.
6/ How far would he take this? Would he try to avoid the reach of the rule of law to him or his children are using presidential power?
7/ The American tradition of justice should be too strong to permit that, but we’ve seen a lot of previously unchallengeable norms destroyed
8/ Prosecutors aren’t perfect, but the team this special counsel has built and the way it is conducting itself has demonstrated integrity
9/ One concern is that integrity may not be as readily apparent to people who haven’t spent a career working for the Justice Deptartment
10/ Bob Mueller is a career public servant. Also a marine, he was appt’d US Atty & FBI Director by Republican Presidents
11/ His team is also career people w/impeccable records. The kind of people I would go to for help in serious matters & trust their advice
12/Politics are irrelevant to these people. Everyone has their views, but these people check them at the door every day when they go to work
13/ I have confidence they will follow the facts where ever they lead. They aren’t concerned with Democrats or Repubs, just the evidence
14/ it would be a mistake to view Bob Mueller as an avenging angel who will wipe out the Trump administration. That is not his goal.
15/ His goal is to thoroughly explore the facts and the law, determine if any criminal conduct was committed, and charge it if appropriate
