Putin is 5’7” & Assad is 6’2” or so. I had to look up both of their heights to make sure this wasn’t one of those Photoshopped big Obama small Trump (or vice versa) fakes.
Those always struck me as weird because both Trump & Obama are tall.

Nobody really talks about the “taller candidate usually wins” theory with Trump & Clinton. Maybe if we ran an exceptionally tall woman on the Democratic ticket in 2020, hmm.
The problem with both Assad & Putin is that they have their enemies tortured & killed, so I don’t consider either of them honorable people.
Remember when Vogue magazine had that glowing profile of Asma al-Assad, wife of Syrian “dictator Bashar al-Assad, whose regime has killed over 5,000 civilians and hundreds of children this year?” The Atlantic remembers. theatlantic.com/international/…
Vogue defended their article (as described here), but they’ve since pulled it from the sites that the 2012 Atlantic story linked to, on copyright grounds, presumably. theatlantic.com/international/…
It turns out that the Syrian government had been paying US lobbyist firm Brown Lloyd James $5,000/month to work with Vogue on the story to distract from his war crimes. thehill.com/business-a-lob…
I just want to make sure these stories don’t completely disappear down the memory hole.

In the Syrian civil war, Bashar al-Assad is not the good guy. He’s a tyrant who pushed his people too far, and should have stepped down instead of dropping chemical weapons on his own people.
Assad is really like the equivalent to the shah of Iran (installed by CIA covert ops & hated for his evil torturing secret police), except that he’s friendly with Russia instead of the US.

Russia has a very important naval facility in Tartus, Syria. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_n…
The Syrian Civil War has been going on for over 6 years & 8 months. Insh’allah there will be peace there soon. Bashar al-Assad needs to turn himself in to The Hague for war crimes & let the people elect a different leadership. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_Ci…
I say insh’allah but I’m not religious. It’s just, what else do you say but only God can sort this one out for them.

The US or Russia or Assad dropping bombs from planes on “ISIS HQs” that turn out to be people’s houses is not helping anyone.
And that goes for Yemen, too. I can’t believe the US Congress hasn’t passed a law against selling bombs to Saudi Arabia that are being used in the civil war there.

To me, that’s as immoral as US or Iraqi air forces dropping “precision” bombs on civilian houses in Iraq.
People are dying of cholera in Yemen because of some bs civil war that started in March 2015 & has nothing to do with the people or what they want. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yemeni_Ci…
And Americans are ignorant of all this. I’m linking to the Wiki pages because I’m totally clueless about the major factions & what’s going on.
I honestly think we need to pull all our troops out of Afghanistan. That country is their own responsibility.

They don’t have nuclear weapons. Let’s just let them grow poppies or whatever they want to do, in peace, declare victory, and go home. ✌️out.
