1. You’re Welcome @GOP, @SpeakerRyan and @SenMajLdr. You dodged a bullet in Alabama last night due to the outpouring of ground-level activism from #TheResistance and the consistently shrewd wisdom of #BlackWomen voters.
2. Thirteen months ago I wrote that the #GOP was embarking on a dangerous path by moving forward with an administration and agenda that was expressly against the will of the MAJORITY of Americans.
3. A #POTUS that is an abject embarrassment hangs around your neck in a slowly-suffocating choke hold, but you continue to spinelessly support his inane behaviors. Approval ratings of GOP leadership dip into the sewer mirroring those of the buffoon you put in office.
4. And your solution to this mess? Support and attach yourselves to a vile candidate like Roy Moore. Yeah...that’s brilliant. With Trump and Moore as the face of the GOP, the death spiral of your party would be a short jaunt. So, like I said, you’re welcome.
5. But, are you taking this reprieve to correct the disastrous path you’re on? Hell no! Instead, you’re trying to rush through the #GOPTaxScam before Jones is even seated. A tax bill that over 70% of Americans DISAPPROVE of. WOW! You are seriously hell-bent on self-destruction.
6. See, this is the thing...there was a thread of common-sense through all of this that you all seemed to miss. The will of the majority matters. Put Russian propaganda, collusion aside - an EC win with this big of a popular vote disparity should’ve given you pause.
7. Instead of looking at it like greedy wannabe autocrats, you should’ve respected democracy enough to recognize you needed to seriously pull back your agenda and reach across the aisle. But you didn’t. And we resisted. And we’ll continue.
8. Why? Because America’s democracy is worth it. The misguided reflex of the GOP to put party (and personal greed) over the will and welfare of the people of our great nation is destined to fail and will result in a Republican Party damaged beyond repair.
9. Just know this...your reckless destruction of your own party won’t take the rest of this country down with it. We simply won’t let that happen. Not to our country, not to us, not to our children.
