The speed and force with which the Trump Administration and Republicans are moving to make the lives of people with low-incomes even harder is both appalling and disorienting. Here is today’s brutal move (thread):

Yesterday they took away protections for people who are targeted and steered towards predatory loans.

And threatened to make people who get housing assistance more vulnerable to homelessness.

This comes on the heels of a push to limit the time that unemployed and underemployed people can received needed help with things like food, healthcare, and housing. They are calling this “workforce development.”

And speaking of workforce, they are keen on allowing employers to take $5.8 billion in tips away from workers currently earning the federal tipped minimum (poverty) wage of $2.13 per hour.

Should a low-income person become justice-involved AG Sessions has made sure that the courts need not consider whether people can pay a fine—that it’s okay if they end up in jail for being too poor to pay.
