Dianne must know very well what rights UK citizens will get as a matter of political negotiation post Brexit - they're set out in the draft withdrawal agreement.
Dianne must know that a former Vice President of the NL supreme court - sitting in a judicial capacity - has said it is reasonably arguable that EU citizenship rights don't "melt away" if the UK departs.
Dianne must know that there is a push in Strasbourg for a type of associate citizenship to be offered to UK citizens.
Dianne must know that the situation of UK citizens who have had and are now losing EU citizenship is not remotely akin to the situation of Commonwealth citizens who have never had a UK passport.
So I just don't understand why Labour peddles this disingenuous nonsense. It's hard to avoid the conclusion they want Brexit just like the Tories do - just with added virtue signalling.

The important point, of course, is this: the debate currently before Parliament is not on legislation. It is on whether Parliament approves a political agreement the Prime Minister has reached with the EU.

The point of a "flexible" constitution is that it is responsive to underlying political reality and fits around core principles like Parliamentary supremacy. Its strength is that it cannot be 'gamed' by a constitutional player.

This is what we are, collectively, missing.
This is critical stuff. What Chris Heaton Harris is here saying is that an Executive of a (minority) Government can thwart the will of a Parliament that is said to be supreme. If our constitution means anything it must mean that Chris is wrong.
However the problem is that our approach to the relationship between an Executive that (we assume) will deliver no deal rather than risk no Brexit and a Parliament that (we learned yesterday) will not contemplate no deal is tangled in the weeds of Parliamentary convention.

Labour is terrified of bringing a vote of no confidence that it knows it will lose because it lacks a plan for what happens next. It's neither in Government nor Opposition.
There is no key Brexit legislation currently before Parliament and we could well leave the EU with no deal before any comes before it.

Labour is chicken, clueless and enabling.
I hate this Government. I hate it for the contempt it has shown for our democratic superstructure: for governance, for the rule of law, and for constitutional norms. But you have to give it this: at least it has a plan. Labour has nothing and is nowhere.

I interviewed @KateOsamor and she said all this headline-making stuff to me. Now she and Labour are trying to argue she was somehow misrepresented. (An attempt at a thread follows)
The problem is – she said all that stuff. Read the quotes and the full interview. All the context is explained and all the caveats she put in I made sure I included.
Asked about Assad she said: “He needs to be removed." It could not have been clearer. But she also questioned how that could be done and suggested it was up to the UN. I made that clear.
