Having toxic parents or a toxic family is more challenging than those with relatively functional families can imagine. Nothing is ever a simple conversation. Almost everything is riddled with passive aggression, subliminals, trauma & projection.
These individuals usually tend to grow up as highly paranoid individuals (believing that everyone is speaking in code), or they obsessively look for hidden meaning behind what others are saying. Even if there is no gain/benefit in understanding.
It's a truly acquired skill not to become triggered. And these are the same individuals who usually grow up to be hypersensitive, almost like a self fulfilling prophecy. They are accused of over reaction, because the toxic family members truly believe their abuse should be
digested. When it is not? And the individual expresses sadness, anger, or discomfort, they are made to feel as if their reactions are wrong. As if they are confused about the nature of what's going on. Because the abuse is usually more covert, it can cause actual disillusionment.
'What is the truth? Did they really mean it like that? What's happening?' Slowly eroding the abused persons confidence in, & ability to trust themselves (intuition).
This is why in adult years, you typically find abused people with others who abuse them, & they seem almost oblivious to it. This is their program. To ignore abuse. To doubt the niggling pains in their heart that tells them, 'this is abuse'.
'Spiritual peoole' often say, 'forgive your parents', & whilst this is true eventually... A tactic I also find helpful & perfectly healthy, is to actually imagine punching them in the face lol (don't actually do it), but this is how you'd likely react to anyone else constantly
Bypassing your boundaries. Visualise yourself taking your power back, by actually retaliating to them in your mind, physically or verbally. However verbally, is actually very important to do in real life. Not in a provocative manner however. Just speak your truth.
Hi guys, my name is Cindy Anneh-bu, & after being plagued w/ depression, anxiety & BPD due to severe childhood abuse, I created this space where I use a range of spirituality & psychology to explain the things that modern science leaves gaps in. Why this happens to us -
How it affects our later life (particularly romantic relationships), & how abuse can survive long into our elderly years, even after we have left our families. Day by day, tweet by twee & article by article, I provide remedies for us to face our trauma & dissemble its roots.
The simple truth is? We are never going to be like everybody else (aka others who have not known this exact same trauma), & that's okay. Accepting that is the first step. There are certain accolades we are blessed w/ however - heightened intuition/empathy, artistic ability &
funnily enough, our hyper vigilance can become an art form. For me, it's helped me to develop compassion that's second to none, & also to be able to help others by reading the patterns that they form that CAN be broken.
You may DM me here for therapy sessions/readings, advice & guidance. If you are under 16, you can pay whatever you can & I'll accept. Or rather, email me at cindyanneh-bu@hotmail.co.uk
These prices are outdated & need to be renewed, however this can be agreed upon during contact. Please note, I have available price plans & I am sympathetic to personal requirements/restrictions xo
