/ Google's gmail predictive writing experimental auto language tab complete in email is going to change communication forever. It is hidden in the settings in the new gmail under 'Enable experimental access' then 'smart compose'
/ We are going to see a relaxation in learning how to spell correctly and a convergence on using similar phrases by way of selecting recommended language via tab auto complete. Variation in language usage will fall and emails will become less personal.
/ This will be part of a movement towards AI completing mundane work for us but has profound implications for our language. We also see this inside text msg quick replies. So I'm calling the death of language today. Long live martlet prose. Long live deedy progress.
/ Full sentence construction based on the users objective will be the next stage (which is much harder), however, in a email thread I can see this being plausible. I.e. Q. 'what was that ticket again for that X bug?' A: 'Y ticket'.
/ This technology should also end up being exportable to other places where we talk: slack, asana, Jira, invision, github etc. not just in email.
/ This should also end up getting extending to predicting the attachment to attach, the person to cc, the calendar invite to make, the ticket to be created, the followup action point to be logged etc etc.
/ I can see further improvement on this if the autocompletion could train off all previous emails, essays, txt msgs and slack comms of that individual to feel more personalized.
/ I have left 8 for you to autocomplete yourself or any future AI :>.....
