THREAD: So last night during the #BETAwards I tweeted out loud why @ShaunKing is a total exploiter of Black trauma and why he's the farthest thing from a journalist.

People keep acting like fellow journalists and activists who are criticizing him are simply "hating."

Nah.

For starters, I won't get into whether @ShaunKing is Black or white but I will say that his birth certificate has two white biological parents and he had to basically imply that his white mother stepped out with a Black man (without proof) in order to claim Blackness.

But more importantly, he's been hijacking the movement work of Black women FOR YEARS. He has started over four activist groups that he has abruptly cancelled within five years -- one of them called Justice Together where he stole work from activists like @LeslieMac among others.

Furthermore, @ShaunKing has a history of profiting off of Black trauma at the expense of Black families not getting a dime. Back when he lived in Atlanta, he ran an online ministry where he collected donations and then moved out of state.

He would later pop up again trying to financially capitalize off of the Haiti crisis and Black Lives Matter Movement.

When I asked him specifically about Haiti last year, he blocked me and several other journalists online.

Beyond that, to call @ShaunKing a journalist would be like calling an adult entertainer a thespian.

Shaun has made a living exploiting the trauma of Black families who have lost their loved ones often without their permission, exposing them to attention they didn't ask for.

For those trying to understand why @ShaunKing would do such -- look at it this way: For every view he gets on Facebook, he profits from commercial ads that appear on the page. His videos often go viral, allowing him reap the monetary value off of the Black trauma he posts.

And nobody ever found out who that "unidentified" Daily News editor was who got fired at a time when such ludicrous behavior would have been exposed.

There are tons of reasons why many in the industry don't see it for @ShaunKing.

As someone who positions himself as a social justice activist that's all about accountability -- he does quite the opposite when it comes to his own problematic actions in movement spaces.
