Or, Republicans were always going to vote for Trump out of a combination of partisanship (people vote for their party), anti-immigrant sentiment/demographic panic (data leans toward this) and Russia/troll-exacerbated hatred of Hillary Clinton & no amount of nice wld change that.
It is consistent but weird that so much analysis blames Trumpism on some social thing liberals and Democrats did to Republican voters, rather than to those voters’ own agency.
As if Democrats need only be nicer to those on the right and Charlottesville would not have happened. And they should be nicer AFTER Charlottesville or another Charlottesville will happen and that will be their fault too. That of course makes no sense at all.
