THREAD: I may lose followers for this but much as I would prefer us to Remain in the EU, Theresa May’s (Olly Robbins’s) new approach seems close to the next best thing. And has greater chance of success cos a majority of voters grouped around the centre can unite behind it. (1/4)

That’s why I think the May-Robbins plan - provided it survives further contact with the ERG zealots & with Boris Johnson (who *never* acts in good faith) & with the EU - is political genius. It will appeal to all the voters who are sick of Brexit & just wish it would go away.

The May-Robbins plan is like manna for the many ppl who know in their heart of hearts that voting for Brexit was a terrible mistake but would rather not have to admit it. It will cushion the impact to an extent that most people will be able to ignore it in their daily lives.//
