@splcenter 2/ The actions of dumpster-fire sites like ThinkProgress are confusing the hell out of well-intentioned onlookers here. The MAINSTREAM POSITION HELD BY EVERY MAJOR ORGANIZATION AND EXPERIENCED CLINICIAN is being painted over and over as bigoted and radical. It's working.

@splcenter 3/ Readers of TP have been repeatedly presented with Ford's ultra-fringe position that desistance is a flat-out myth (as opposed to that the *rate* was previously overstated). He stated this belief iexplicitly in his most recent article.

@splcenter 4/ As long as TP and Ford continue to cover this issue in such an irresponsible way this will happen over and over and over. People will keep being misinformed, because TP is, unfortunately, viewed as a credible source on this. Ford simply ignores the very clinicians he talks

@splcenter 5/5 to, like Dan Karasic, when it comes to this one subject. It's astoundingly dishonest and misleads his readers over and over again. Here's an email from Karasic noting -- I'm a broken record -- 80% was overstated, but desisters exist. Frustratingly awful science reporting.
