It seems that not only has every Republican but even most of the media have bought Trump's utterly ridiculous, completely implausible explanation for his his treasonous kowtowing to Putin. The crisis has passed--move on to the next outrage.
Re the media, I don't think the Putin incident told them anything they didn't already know about Trump's stupidity & perfidy. But they thought this might finally be the issue over which the GOP would revolt. Now they know that isn't going to happen and have lost interest.
I didn't mean to imply that the media believes Trump's absurd lie, but rather that Republicans bought it & dropped any idea of holding Trump accountable. With Democrats powerless, the political revolt that the media thought might happen has fizzled. Hence the loss of interest.
