FACT: Border crossing is at a 40 year low, most undocumented immigrants come by plane.
FACT: Disingenuous compassion is gross.
FACT: Immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than natural born Americans.
FACT: Those currently held at the border are asylum seekers fleeing violence that America helped cause through our drug consumption and foreign policy.

America has a moral duty to help these people.

The Trump admin cut the advertising budget for the ACA by 90%.

FOIA obtained emails show this was knowingly designed to harm enrollment, and they repeatedly lied about that fact.

Dem House oversight puts an end to the sabotage. Remember what they did when they had the power.
On a call w/ reporters, in response to whether HHS had studied the efficacy of advertising, an official said, “We haven’t done a specific study related to the public awareness of the program.”

It was a lie. They had, & knew it would harm enrollment.

The day open enrollment began, the Trump administrator of ACA benefits wrote a tweet designed to scare Americans away from enrolling.

Now that Dems have won House oversight, she’s promoting enrollment. Oversight stops the sabotage.

@charliekirk11 This was the Trump the media do not want you to see and -- accordingly -- do everything in its corrupt power to hide. The president -- forceful, confident, eloquent -- delivered a heartfelt, emotional and factual appeal. An appeal based on reason.
@charliekirk11 But the speech was more. It was a vivid and reassuring display of what a take-charge leader looks like. America has not had such a forceful advocate FOR AMERICANS since Ronald Wilson Reagan.

There are some things I want to say about the #wall, #TrumpShutdown, Trump's base, & racism. It's going to be a lengthy thread, but I'll unroll it into one page at the end.
1/ As the #shutdown winds into its third week, a lot of ink has been spilled over whether or not the wall would provide #bordersecurity, on how practical or impractical it would be, and on how to resolve this mess.
2/ By and large this misses the point. The sharpest analysis to date came, unintentionally, from @LindseyGraham: The wall is a metaphor. But not the way he meant it. Rather, it’s a metaphor for a deeply held *insecurity* within #Trump’s base.
