A picture of a persistent illusion & the concept of fear - A thread !
In wealth is a fear of poverty, in knowledge a fear of ignorance, in beauty a fear of age, in fame a fear of infamy, in success a fear of envy, in life is the lurking fear of death.
Everything is fraught with fear, emanating from not knowing the non-discriminatory, eternally abiding, unchanging constant behind the ever-changing external environment - an attachment and at the consequent thought of losing what exists in the future!
Fear is only as deep as the mind allows - the outcome of an illusion that can vanish with realisation.
Fear is never about the past. It is always about a future. That the future has not yet happened only means, it is not in existence. A suffering over what does not exist, as the hallucinating mind feeds on the present, shitting out fear into a future that hasn’t happened.
Not hallucinating over something that does not exist is the only way to getting rid of fear. Fear is merely a flashing neon sign, an alert that hallucinations are being allowed to consume the present moment.
Fear is a belief. Beliefs are thoughts. Thoughts can be changed. Belief is a command to the brain. But mind is, like a monkey. Beliefs are prone to be punctuated by wandering thoughts — it’s going to be a long and arduous practice to reset the mind to factory setting.
Fear is based on a theory of importance, an exaggerated value granted to something. Only when something is important, does a fear at losing it or not attaining it, arise.
Expectation of a certain result implies attributing an importance to that, underlying is a fear of not being able to realise that expectation. But importance is only an illusion ! Nothing is really important in this world; nothing is really needed, beyond what is already there!
Once this concept sediments, the illusion is gone - for importance is that illusion. When nothing is important, there is no room for fear.

Life waits eagerly on the other side of fear.
