Must-read thread on the bizarre lengths Saudi tyranny goes to when it receives the slightest criticism. So much effort - that only embarrasses itself & draws even more negative international attention its way. All for what? To defend its jailing of human rights defenders. Madness
Saudi Arabia's ridiculous over-reaction is probably mostly about this: sending a warning to others who might criticise the regime.

That's why we must double our efforts now to highlight Saudi abuses.

Other countries should not let themselves be cowed into silenced.
It gets even more absurd... It's so important to Saudi rulers to keep peaceful critics in jail, that they will even undermine their own citizens' health to show how much they despise human rights:

So, to review, Saudi policy is:

- Jail people who mention human rights.

- Attack countries who mention human rights.

- Punish Saudi students in countries that mention human rights.

- Punish Saudi patients in hospitals in countries that mention human rights.

Madness
What's next? "Saudi Arabia announces public executions for all citizens who like maple syrup"?
Spare a thought for the poor (OK not, poor, but still) public relations folks Saudi Arabia is constantly hiring to improve its image abroad...

"Here's our expert opinion based on our research & experience: stop hitting yourself repeatedly over the head with a bat."

"No."
Doubling down on dumb…

Has any government anywhere ever expressed so much absurd outrage on the basis of a single tweet?

Jumping up & down like mad, and punishing thousands of your own citizens just because someone tweeted something you didn’t like? reuters.com/article/us-sau…
And since Saudi Arabia has gone so absolutely bonkers over a single tweet about human rights, it is definitely worth retweeting it again and again...
