THREAD: Okay we need to have a chat about the rise to prominence of @eliothiggins & @bellingcat. The MSM's new case study on how to become an establishment sanctioned new media outlet.
Compare and contrast the way the mainstream media and the establishment have opened it's arms up to @eliothiggins & @bellingcat as opposed to its hostility and aggression towards say @skwawkbox or @TheCanaryUK
Also contrast the way @bellingcat's amateur hour "investigative journalism" is treated with credibility and accepted as a gold standard without any scrutiny whatsoever compared to the previously mentioned organisations
Key differences between @bellingcat & @skwawkbox? Their stance to the establishment narrative and their key backers.
@Bellingcat pushes the establishment narrative and works relentlessly to find (at best amateur and comical) evidence to push this, their flimsy and nefarious "research" never questioned or scrutinised by the establishment
Also whilst @skwawkbox works for & is supported by ordinary people, @Bellingcat creator @eliothiggins is backed by the likes of US geo-politics "think tank" Atlantic Council, which in turn is supported by the likes of Blackstone, Lockheed Martin, NewsCorp, BAE
What does this backing get @eliothiggins? The guy who made his name under the Black Moses pseudonym (mis)identifying weapons used during the Syria war with no formal training or expertise from Youtube videos to push establishment narratives?...
...access to the BBC, Channel 4 and Guardian to push his Googling & MS Paint "research" as credible without the fear of scrutiny. And him being held up as an example of 21st Century "citizen journalism".
And who are the key of cheerleaders of @Bellingcat & @eliothiggins? The time old convergence of Neo-Liberals and the Alt-Right, the same old stooges, pushing the same old interests of the establishment.
"Citizen Journalism" should be about ordinary people stepping in to fill the void left by corporate media of holding power to account, instead its being manipulated by the establishment to re-establish its authority.
Research @EliotHiggins @bellingcat, Black Moses, Syria, Atlantic Council, and then question why they're so suddenly being accepted and promoted by the mainstream.
