1. Great reporting here detailing how the Trump business model worked. wnycstudios.org/story/trump-in… via @wnycstudios
2. Trump recipe for business success™️
Step 1: lie.
Step 2: lie some more and take credit for the risks other people are taking.
Step 3: take in tens of millions of dollars for which you provide almost no value or service.
3. Trump recipe for business success™️ (cont'd)
Step 4: walk away with that money when the project goes under leaving others to hold the bag.
Step 5: threaten to sue those other people if they try to get the money back that you stole from them.
4. Trump recipe for business success™️ (cont'd)
Step 6: use Hollywood to brand yourself as a "great dealmaker" so you can lure more people into your web of deceit, monetizing their credulity and desire to bask in the glow of your unearned fame.
5. That is the Trump family business model. Lie, lie some more, rip off people less powerful than you, bully them when they complain, then brag about how rich you are to get more people to involve you in their projects so you can then rip THEM off. Rinse. Repeat.
6. Then run for President as a great businessman truth-teller who will save the nation from the brown hoards, and a whole bunch of angry white people will think you're awesome and worship at your altar.
7. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." I mean really, have none of Trump's supporters ever watched The Wizard of Freaking Oz?
8. Remember how obsessed Trump has always been with the idea that other people are laughing at him or at America? He says it all the time. Like with most things, he's accusing others of engaging in the bad behavior that comes most naturally to him.
9. As this story shows, Trump and his family must spend their days laughing at their supporters, laughing at a nation foolish enough to elect him president, laughing at those stupid rich people who allow themselves to get ripped off by the Trump businesses...
10. ...laughing at the aspiring middle class ppl who they ripped off at Trump University, laughing at the world's oligarchs who overpay for condos in Trump buildings to launder their money, laughing at the poor saps who would be so dumb as to gamble in a Trump casino, etc. etc.
11. Sigh. Just listen to the podcast, and be sure to tell your Trump-loving friends that their guy is laughing at them for buying his fake schtick for all of these years.
12. And then remind them that his one accomplishment, the tax bill, has ballooned the deficit by almost $1 trillion this year alone...& then ask them how much of that bill Donald McTaxCheat is going to help pick up, and how much they & their kids will pay. nytimes.com/interactive/20…
