Trump helped create the conditions in which the Saudis thought they could get away with the Khashoggi murder. Jared and Trump sent strong signals that we would look the other way on human rights. When the Intelligence Community got wind of the plot to kill Khashoggi...
...as it seems likely they did, someone high up in the Trump Admin would have had to make the decision not to share it with Khashoggi. When we got the first intelligence of the murder we denied it and went along with Saudi denials.
Now, as they engineer their cover-up we are complicit. What is more, the president has asserted that he will rule out denying the Saudis arms sales, thus empowering them and assisting them with other future crimes they may commit.
We are not bystanders to this horrific murder or the sham of a cover-up that has followed it. We--our President, his son-in-law, top admin officials--are complicit in this crime from beginning to end. The Saudi leadership have blood on their hands. But so does Donald Trump.
