There does exist a scary Trump superfan community (mostly alt-right) that is responsible for an astounding level of harasssment and threats against Trump critics — and for isolated acts of violence. This is very, very real. /2
BUT it is NOT THE SAME as the pre-existing, hideously evil Nazi/White supremacist community that has long committed acts of violence in this country and will sadly exist after Trump is gone. These people come straight from the gates of hell. /3
I’ve had sadly all too much experience with the alt-right Trump superfans. But when this other community emerges, things get so very much darker. /4
If you’re equating the two — if you’re finding comments on Fox or in Trump’s speeches that Nazis like — then you’re just reaching. These people aren’t evil because of Fox & Friends. Their hatred runs bone-deep. It’s way outside and beyond even our hyper-polarized politics. /5
TLDR — Based on available evidence (important caveat) these two terrorists are not the same. Unless the evidence changes, if you’re lumping them together, you’re making a serious mistake. /end
