(7) One of the many fact-free Democrat talking points is that since the caravan is too far away to make it to border by election day, we shouldn't be focusing on the crisis at all.

(9) Common sense tells me that once they realize if they're allowed in while a (likely meritless) asylum application is processed, they'll spend a long time in an uncomfortable but humane detention camp only to be deported, many will turn back before reaching the border.

(12) As I've said in my earlier threads, there is already crime inside the caravans bc the children are being subjected to abuse & neglect, even if they are with their legal "parents." I never give child abusers the title of parent, Mom or Dad.

(18) 9,000+ troops are needed bc the nature of the threat can change rapidly. Much of the operation is about housing, feeding, transporting, & providing security for LEOs, eg the CBP. It's not primarily about dealing with rioting, but that's the part that is hard to predict.

(23) Operation Faithful Patriot is "core business" for the military. Sec Mattis reminded media that it's just like helping after a major hurricane. DHS routinely requests help with logistics & other specialized skills. No one can do it faster or better than the military.

(35) Remember, the military are providing logistical support to LEOs, of whom an additional 1,000 CBP officers have surged to the border in the last week or so. Armed Police securing the border is routine and normal. The US has every right to enforce its laws.
