Trump is doing a rally in Indianapolis. Tweets in this thread.
Pence is speaking first in his home state. He says of Trump, "He's a man of his word. He's a man of action."
Pence on Trump: "The results have been -- huge." People in the crowd in unison: "Yuuuge."
"We've already started to build that wall," Pence lies, and there is a Build That Wall chant, and Pence boasts that Trump has deployed troops to deal with the caravan.
Pence, rising to a near-shout, says the people in the caravan will not be allowed to enter the United States "illegally." Requesting asylum is not illegal.
Trump begins again by briefly touting the jobs numbers. "How were they," he says. "How WERE they?"
Trump says this is the best economy of all time, "way ahead of schedule," and if he said this during the campaign "they would not have let us get away with it, but we would have gotten away with it anyway. We would've gotten away with it."
Trump touts the record unemployment numbers for African-American and Hispanic people. As usual, he falsely adds Asian-Americans to the list.
Trump promises he will "soon" do his currently imaginary 10% middle-class tax cut.
Trump lies of Democrats: "They want to shut down your steel mills. And that will happen."
Trump lies of Democrats: "Democrats wanted totally open borders. How do you like that sound? Come on in. COME ON IN, everybody." There is a Build That Wall chant.
"We're building the wall," Trump lies, and repeats his usual lie about how he has secured $4.8 billion in funding for the wall, though he has secured $1.6 billion for non-wall projects.
Trump does his usual caravan lie-conspiracy: "The Democrats want to invite caravan after caravan. And you see we have more caravans forming...gee, I wonder how that happens, I wonder how."
So far, this rally speech is nearly identical to his speech earlier today, except he's so far avoided his earlier musings about how Republicans might lose the House but it won't be his fault.
Trump is calling up former Indiana basketball coach Bobby Knight to speak. First he is telling his standard extremely long multi-Sir story about Bobby Knight urging him to run.
Trump midway through the long Bobby Knight-called-me-before-I-ran story: "And on my desk - you know I'm a hard worker, I have a lot of stuff..."
Trump has added a new religious component to his "Bobby Knight called me and then I threw his number in a pile and then much later I magically found the number in the haystack" story: "And then I look up, and I say, 'Thank you, God, thank you.' That was from God."
Trump: "I like Larry Bird. I don't know if he likes me, but I don't really care. I think Larry Bird was a great basketball player."
Trump says he will not ask the Indiana University fans how their team has been doing since Bobby Knight left. He calls up Bobby Knight.
Bobby Knight says Harry Truman was a "great president," and notes that people would say "give 'em hell, Harry," and says Trump is too and "already givin' 'em hell," and asks people to say, on the count of three, "Go get 'em, Donald," and there is a "Go get 'em, Donald" chant.
Bobby Knight says that defense wins basketball games, and Trump is a great defender, "a great defender of the United States of America." There is a U-S-A chant, and it is all very Indiana.
Trump on the importance of the midterms: "They're not going to beat the day from two years ago, but it's going to be interesting nevertheless. Was that a great time we had two years ago?"
Trump on Kavanaugh: "No man, nobody, was ever abused like then-Judge Kavanaugh. Nobody was ever abused."
Trump lies that Dianne Feinstein has an "open border bill" and Joe Donnelly supported it. It was a bill to end family separations. (Some Republicans said it was so sloppily drafted that it'd prohibit standard immigration enforcement.)
Trump is doing an especially inaccurate retelling of Dianne Feinstein's response to John Cornyn's questioning about leaking Christine Blasey Ford's letter.
Trump says Joe Donnelly is doing a rally with "Barack H. Obama."
Trump on Melania: "You think it's easy to be first lady, when you're married to me? You think it's easy?"
Trump is doing the thing where he complains that the media doesn't show his crowds, and asks the camerapeople (whose job it is to stay on him) to turn their cameras, and the crowd jeers and chants U-S-A. "They don't like to turn the camera," Trump continues.
Trump repeats that Obama had a "small crowd," and that Obama lied about keeping your doctor and he could go into it, but he wants to "stay pleasant."
Senate candidate Mike Braun is now telling a story about how amazing it was when *he* saw on TV that Trump had been elected. He adds, and I quote, "That's the reason I'm here. If it hadn't happened I'd be hunkered down in southern Indiana, wondering how to survive."
Trump against all evidence, including his various bills and his involvement in a current lawsuit: "Republicans will always protect patients with pre-existing conditions."
Trump with a major lie: "Democrats' plan to destroy health care also includes raiding Medicare to fund benefits for illegal immigrants. I'm sure you don't mind. Does anybody mind?"
Trump is doing a litany of lies about illegal immigration. He says of Democrats, "They want them to vote, because they're going to vote for the Democrat." He perpetually makes it sound, wrongly, like unauthorized immigrants can vote immediately upon entry.
Trump: "...Women women women. I love women. They're the greatest. I like 'em much more than I like the men."
Trump tells his usual lie about how the Obama administration said there'd be no more manufacturing jobs, which never happened.
Trump says he got lots of concessions from Canada and Mexico by threatening to put tariffs on their cars.
All the same stuff: "We've decimated Obamacare" (the key elements other than the mandate still exist), "largest (military) pay raise in more than a decade" (9 years), "passed Veterans Choice" (that happened in 2014).
Trump explaining the Space Force: "Very much needed. Very much needed. That's where it's at. That's where it's all going. Defense, offense, that's where it's all going."
Trump says that at some point Iran's leaders are "going to get very smart" and come to the table to negotiate a fair deal.
Trump says Democrats want to "give power back to a corrupt, selfish ruling class that only looks out for themselves. I know them well."
Trump has concluded. A lot of lying, nothing much new.
