Before the #Brexit referendum, a lot of us were saying two things:
Firstly, that if the vote went Leave, all the government's focus would be on Brexit to the detriment of everything else.

We've got Tories blaming Sadiq Khan and Sadiq Khan blaming the Tory government and, all the while, the government is so fixated on moronic Brexit that they do nothing and people (especially in #London) and being killed at an alarming rate.
Secondly, we said that it would release a wave of suppressed anti-foreigner sentiment.
Well, lo and behold, the rates of racist incidents, particularly but not solely against eastern Europeans has sky rocketed.

Then we found out about the full extent of @theresa_may's 'hostile environment' policy. What a vile disgrace that is - normalising hatred of foreigners.
And so another life is lost. And a family has to try to pick up the pieces. And I listen to people ring the radio phone-ins and tell the listeners that it's inexplicable because Britain is such a welcoming place. Seriously, how long are we going to flog that line? 
I had low level snide comments about my surname for 40 years in Britain. The period between the "No Irish, no blacks, no dogs" signs and the rush to blame foreigners for everything that went wrong was how long? 10 years? And during that we had Stephen Lawrence and others.
How long are we going to persist with the myth that Britain is a welcoming place? When you've got a Prime Minister who was openly trying to push foreigners out - deporting British #Windrush citizens essentially because they were black.
There is something seriously and fundamentally wrong with Britain. It's not alone but then I've not experienced it anywhere else. And everyone excuses every incident as a one off.
Until it stops, nothing changes.

These are not one off incidents.
Racism in Britain is normal.
And we need to say it to change it.
