I understand that a meeting of EU27 ambassadors that had been scheduled for today is set to be postponed to Friday.
If the postponement is confirmed the most likely reason is no significant update on last week (buzzfeed.com/albertonardell…), and best to keep status under wraps until there is a more substantive update to make as negotiations ongoing
The delay, if confirmed, isn't necessarily a negative. It could be that the two sides are deep in talks and trying to finalise a deal – and are days away from a breakthrough.
That was the optimistic take. Understand that a lot more work is needed if there is to be a breakthrough soon. Unlikely to be imminent.
