THREAD // Doing What You LOVE vs Doing What You HATE

If you're constantly pushing yourself to do things you don't enjoy in your business, you need to cut it out

Whenever people ask me how to start making money online or grow their business, we start here:
Three Guidelines to Leverage Your Skills and Run A Thriving Online Business

1. Do what you enjoy
2. Do what you're good at
3. Do what's monetizable

One more guideline:

4. Do what's scalable
Be honest with yourself

- If you hate writing don't start an email newsletter
- If you love doing Facebook Lives or Periscopes do them
- If you really enjoy build funnels or webinars do that
- If you enjoy writing 3,000 word blog posts go ahead
- If you love phone sales do it
What about the high ROI on email?

Doesn't fucking matter if you hate it

What about using webinars for high-ticket sales?

Doesn't matter if you hate building webinars

-

What about using FB groups for coaching?

Doesn't matter if you'd rather do live events
An email marketer will tell you you HAVE to do email

A Clickfunnels builder will say you NEED a funnel

A YouTube expert will tell you "everything is moving to video"

Doesn't matter if you hate it and they pull you AWAY from the things you enjoy doing
"But I'm leaving money on the table if I don't do X"

No you're not

Because by going ALL IN on the things:

- You're good at
- You enjoy
- That are monetizable
- And scalable

You'll have an exponential effect
Why do you think I do long-form interviews instead of a podcast?

Because I prefer to WRITE

Because I prefer to READ

And I hate watching videos because they take too long to consume

I create what I WANT TO SEE

Which means I put more energy and care into it
And because I'm creating what I want I'm going to attract people who want the same things

LAST NOTE:

You can outsource, delegate, automate and eliminate all the things you hate

But you definitely don't need to do them yourself because someone else said so

I've made several changes this month

- 2 new niches sites
- 3 new VAs
- Cutting daily emails down to 3
- Increase focused on paid group coaching
- Updated positioning

And more..

But I don't consider them changes

The point is to continuously EVOLVE over time
A lot of young people and new business owners get stagnant

You're not consciously evolving or growing

It's not going to happen every day

And a year is too long for a meaningful feedback loop

But I'm sure you can make progress every single week

Yes - EVERY week
Birthdays are only once a year

New Year's is only once a year

Summer is only once a year

We like to think about our lives during these events

But they don't happen often

Shorter feedback loops will force you to grow faster

THREAD // Making Friends Is Easier Than You Think

Had a great time with @MyLatinLife @NomadicHustler and @_RobORourke at dinner last night

It's easy when you're in school

But a lot of people seem to have trouble making new friends as they get older
The school environment is conducive to friendship because you spend so much time together

You share classes, activities and meals together so it's easy to find your tribe

Because you're younger, your standards are also low

You haven't refined who you are and what you want
As you get older and finish school, you're not really forced to be anywhere except work (if you work in an office)

A lot of people struggle with making new friends because they don't SEEK OUT additional activities that put them in environments where they can make friends

- I always have time for family or a true friend

- I believe the best way to build your network is by helping other people succeed
But… I don’t try to help people who don’t WANT to be helped

Would eliminating a system or saying “No” save time, energy, or money?

I believe that less is more and always seek to do more of less
8. I focus all my energy within my circle of influence

I don't concern myself or worry about things over which I have no control

9. I take 100% responsibility

- I recognize that problems are gifts that inspire me to action

#Thread Here's an incredible story about a young man who was busy with loading and unloading in #KeralaFloods relief centres. Only days later people came to know that he was none other than, Kannan Gopinathan, the Collector of Dadra & Nagar Haveli! (1/n)
He travelled in KSRTC buses and covered 5 districts in 10 days without revealing identity. He took leave for serving his homeland in the time of crisis. Kannan is a native of Kottayam. Even his relatives were not aware of his unofficial visit! (2/n)
It was only after Eranakulam Collector Y.Safirulla's visit to centre at KBPS press, the volunteers of the camp came to know that the guy who was helping in loading goods was an IAS officer! (3/n)
