As you all know, the @ProBonoOntario Law Help Centres are set to be closed on December 14. This is a crushing blow to access to justice in Toronto and Ottawa.

1) Share this information, and raise awareness for the fact that the @ProBonoOntario Law Help Centres will be closing as of December 14 due to a lack of funding for the $500,000/year (approximately $25 per client served) to keep the three centres open.
2) Write to @ONAttorneyGen and @MinJusticeEn, with a copy to @LawSocietyLSO to express your concern about the closure of the @ProBonoOntario Law Help Centres & the importance of finding a sustainable, long term funding solution.

3) Sign the petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to show your support for establishing a stable source of funding for the @ProBonoOntario Law Help Centres. This is a step anyone can do that only takes seconds from a busy billable day: change.org/p/legislative-…
4) Donate to the effort to raise $500,000 to act as emergency short-term funding. @ProBonoOntario has confirmed that this will keep the centres open while a viable long-term solution is developed. Donations (with charitable receipts) can be made at canadahelps.org/en/charities/p…
5) Contact the @LawSocietyLSO (or any bencher) to let them know that you support a pro bono levy surcharge from the Law Society to fund the @ProBonoOntario Law Help Centres. This approach is taken in other provinces, including SK, AB and BC, to fund pro bono mandates.
