In September the Scottish Parliament passed an amendment to the Scottish Crown Estate Bill which would protect Scotland's kelp forests. We said at the time it wasn't a done deal, though (it’s not). Help us seal the deal! 🐙🐟🌱
Earlier this week we saw the amendments proposed by Ministers and others for the final stage of this Bill, and it's all up in the air again. If you love Parliamentary procedure and legislation you can have a look here.

On Wednesday the whole Scottish Parliament will make a decision on the future of our kelp forests. If you want to see them protected, please write to your MSPs & tell them. 🗳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 You can email them all very easily here:

Just pop in your postcode and pick the option to email your MSPs (you can copy and paste and send the same text both to your constituency MSP and your seven regional MSPs - the site doesn't let you do that in one go, for some reason). A lush kelp forest
We wouldn't dream of telling anyone what to write, but the crucial thing is to tell your MSPs that you want them to vote to protect kelp forests on Wednesday. And here is why Sir David Attenborough is opposed to mechanical dredging of kelp. 🦀🐬🦑

From our perspective, kelp dredging would undermine biodiversity (kelp forests are incredibly rich habitats for all sorts of species), our fishing industry, hand harvesters (⬇️ who are not allowed to kill whole plants - and wouldn't want to), marine tourism, you name it. Hand harvesting of kelp

Nicola thinks she's running something other than a glorified county council. The difference is that the bank account the Scottish government uses will bounce cheques when they reach their overdraft limit. Payment authorisation would be refused without HM Treasury permission
Just like any other local county council area in the UK.

The UK does the tax collection across the UK. If you did the accounts for North Yorks County Council you would find it too has a 'deficit' that is filled by the block grant and whatever 'borrowing' HM Treasury permits.

It's so simple, you don't even have to be smaht or skilled.
First 3-6 months on the job make sure you show up early, often & for everything.

Volunteer to do extra work, participate in annoying groups activities, stay after hours, come early.

That's it. Next 5 years you can be coasting, shopping for a better gig. With stellar references.
I have done this at every job I've held and it's worked every single time. Usually, it's a done deal in just a few weeks.

Once you have the reputation of a high performer and the important people LIKE YOU, nothing else matters.
