/ The flack we are getting since the articles in today's @ScotNational about EU nationals considering leaving Scotland is coming from both sides of debate: This is exactly what we feared when we saw sensationalist headline last night.
/ While some unionists say we shouldn't even have a vote, many indy supporters attack our "impatience" or accuse EU nationals of being reason 2014 ref was lost- let's be clear, we never said we need a vote now - we stated we hoped for clarity
/ Clarity is needed because Brexit, whether "deal" or "no deal" impacts our rights hugely. Right to apply for Settled Status does not mean guaranteed right to stay. & still so many unanswered questions around SS: the3million.org.uk/questions
/ The threat of Brexit is already affecting us; EU nationals reporting difficulty in securing rental agreements past Brexit, and employers reluctant to hire new EU nationals due to uncertainty of continued rights, or whether hostile environment will make them leave anyway
/ We'd love to be able to say we will stay and campaign for indy no matter the cost, but the truth is we only have a glimpse of the cost so far, and it is greater than many would dream of putting up with. But it doesn't make us any less passionate about indy
/ Consideration is not the same as concrete plans. In fact, we don't have the luxury of concrete plans, because fo the last 2.5 years we have been #inlimbo. The toll this has taken is indescribable. Our lives are here, we are rooted. Leaving would not be easy.
/ The point we tried to make in these articles was that we want to stay; Scotland is our home. But w/out security in our home, & clarity on the way forward, we are faced with dilemma of staying w/ reduced rights and hoping for best, or moving on to secure our families' futures
/ It is impossible and heartbreaking. None of us want to be in this position. And we recognise & take solace in the 62% Remain vote returned here, as well as the reassuring words of welcome & value from majority across Scotland, inc @ScotGovFM.
/ Our hope for these articles was that more people would learn details of situation EU nationals face, as truthful, in-depth coverage sorely missing from media. Sadly, we feel let down that focus was completely missed again.
