I have not tweeted for a while out of respect for the military men we lost recently on the war front with BH. May their gentle soul rest in peace
For those of you who think you can make a political capital out of their death, may you experience a double portion of hardship they face at war front & may your family experience the grief theirs experienced at your prime.
For those whose desire for political correctness push you to comment anyhow, may God forgive you
You can castigate Buhari on anything but not on his handling of war with BH. Tell me one country in the world facing the kind of existential threat we were facing before Buhari that has made progress against insurgency as we have made. Please just one country
I flew in2 Maiduguri in 2009 2 secure an office accommodation 4 a centre that ws 2 b opened by my agency, that's few months after Yusuf was killed. D Maiduguri I saw was a shadow of the town I knew not knowing it was a preamble. By 2011 it ws obvious tht Maiduguri ws a no go area
By 2013 whn I had some issues with some powerful elements in the office, d idea tht I shd b transferred 2 Maiduguri to start d new center was muted. No flight was going to NE as at then. I cannot drive through Jos because of militants & going 2ru Kaduna 2 Kano ws like Afghanistan
That's why I am surprised that any northerner or anybody that traveled through north those days would criticize Buhari or claim nothing has been achieved. We easily forgot the days our military men were making tactical maneuver into Niger Republic
We forgot the days when going church or mosque was a herculean task. You will frisk from head to toe. I remember at a point we were advised not come to Church with cars because you can't park inside or close to the church.
We forgot the days that every road leading to important places in Abuja were barricaded. We forgot the days when even the UN building was not safe. We forgot the days when waiting for bus at Nyanya was a great risk
I remember I ws at Banex sometimes in 2014 2 buy battery 4 my laptop. I decided nt park inside bt in front of EFAB. I drove towards Banex junction after my transaction only 2 hear a loud bang as I got 2 d junction. I realized later that I escaped bomb blast by about 30 secs
That was Nigeria before Buhari. Today, life has returned to most parts of NE. Insurgents have been pushed to the brinks of Lake Chad. They carry out surprise attacks once in a while but our troops have the capacity to respond with greater firepower instead of tactical maneuver
You can play politics with anything you choose but please respect our military men and women that risk their lives everyday. Respect the service chiefs that provided leadership and respect the president that made this possible rather than sharing security funds
